Many parents can be protective on this dream. Its a tough business & not many people make it. Have u ever herd the phrase starving actor? l am not sure if u want to pursue theater or film but below r the steps to train properly. as community theater wise u may be a bit young. train then in a few years see where it takes ya. tell mom that in college u promise to have a backup major. or u could double major. have a plan b & do not stop thinking about it because its the persistent people that do not think there gunna make it that make it. Bring up acting at diner & express this dream u have good luck best wishes.
film: 1 train ur head off - film acting class vocal pop lessons hip hop dance . 2. gain a lot of weird talent ( pogo stick maybe a couple karate classes)
3. get the look( perfect hair innocent great smile cute look) 4. after about 5yrs of training find a non scam agent. 6 get a head shot & good luck
Theater:
classical vocal lessons , jazz & tap , acting classes climb up the theater ladder
community regional dinner off-off broadway off-Broadway broadway
get as much experience as possible.

Person above me, Good answer, but ur stupid. She did not ask for that.
She asked how to convince her mom to let her act. Mkay, Im thirteen too, & with my first audition l got the lead role as Juliet. And it was a respected (Non-school) theater.
My Mom was worried to, like how could l get this much success so fast?
First u might wanna find out why ur Mom is denying u ur dream. Did she have a bad experience when she was younger? Does she not trusts others? Or does she just not like the idea of her daughter being a 'STAR'?
Second! Show ur Mom why u want this soo bad! If you've got talent prove it to her! Make a deal with her to at least let u try an audition, & if u make it in. Talk to her about it, tell her that '' l made it in, this is what l want to do! Ive proved that Ive got talent! But ur stoping me!'' HA that is harsh, but u know summarieze it in ur own way. (Id try aiming for a smaller role first, let her get comfortable.)
AND YOU DONT NEED TO LOOK PERFECT THAT WAS A HORRBLE DISPLAY OF BEING A HUMAN LIKE COME ON!? YEAH YOU HAVE TO BE A LITTLE PRETTY BUT COME ON AN ''INNOCENT LOOK' AND THE 'PERFECT HAIR'?!?! SOO STEREOTYPICAL.GET A LIFE MIND AND SOME CREATIVITY . JESUS. that wasnt to u ellie. To whom ever was being utterly un human above me.
